The 6 best online shops for maternity fashion

In this blog I often try to help you find clothes that are mama friendly, that is, “normal” garments that are suitable for pregnant and/or nursing women who love fashion.

But sometimes it’s worth to get some proper maternity and nursing items (specially bras and bottoms) so I decided to make a round up of the best online stores for affordable maternity fashion. Here is the list, and my favourite picks from each one:

Target

What’s more convenient when you are pregnant than shopping your maternity clothes while you stock up in everything else you need?

Target Maternity Dress

I am a sucker for stripes, this dress is fun but could also be worn with a blazer to work. Genius!

H&M MAMA

An international powerhouse, it’s the safe place to go for affordable fashion for the whole family.

Sweatpants are no longer for lazy girls, they are spot on trend for a cool and relaxed look. You won’t want to take them off.

New Look

New Look takes maternity fashion seriously, stocking a wide range of belly-friendly clothing from great basic sets to pretty dresses.

ASOS

Apart from their Maternity collections, they stock other well known maternity brands like Mama.licious, Isabella Oliver or Elle Macpherson Intimates.

Having a comfortable pair of jeans is essential for any gal, and this pair will give you the sartorial edge every time.

TOPSHOP

Always at the forefront of trends, TOPSHOP Maternity is the perfect range for mamas who won’t let a bump get in the way to be the coolest girl in the room.

For a conservative girl, it looks like something you would wear to sleep; for the sartorially savvy, it’s effortless cool.

GAP

With a huge range of jersey tops and dresses, you can’t go wrong with GAP’s comfortable yet stylish pieces.

Striped maxi dresses, fresh and cool (wear a waist band underneath for support if needed)

What do you think of this list, did I miss any shop you like? Where do/did you shop for your maternity wardrobe?

The world is flat!

Flats

Well, my shoe world, that is. Pregnancy is not the best time to strut around in high heels, as it can cause back problems (and there is a risk of falling flat on your face, which is not as funny as when you are non-pregnant).

And we flat wearers, are now spoilt for choice. There hasn’t been some many different cute   flats shoes in the shops ever. You have the preppy loafers, the trendy slippers, the super fashionable d’Orsay flats, the classic brogues, and I could go on and on.

Anyway, this is a small selection of pretty flats that I put together, what do you think of them?

8 whimsical breastfeeding-friendly dresses from People Tree

Hey hey!

I hope you all had a great Christmas, ours was nice and quiet, with the traditional family meals and (too much) good food.

I am sorry I haven´t been able to post regularly lately, as I said before I have started a new course and I am very busy with the assignments. I am also working on a new exciting addition to the blog.

But hey, I think I bring you all nursing mamas an interesting post. I have been breastfeeding my son for almost 30 months now and fashion-wise the most challenging part is always finding suitable dresses. So I nearly jumped of joy when I found all these cute printed nursing-friendly  dresses on People Tree, the fair trade and sustainable fashion brand.

(Psst, some of them are on sale!)

Mama’s friends: more rucksacks

Because they are practical, cool and I love them, here is another round of backpacks to carry all you need (and more):
Rucksacks

It´s in the bag!

When you are pregnant or nursing, there is only a limited amount of clothing you can wear, which is probably smaller than your “regular” collection. Hence you feel you are stuck on a style rut. And this is where accessories come to the rescue, transforming a plain and simple look in a sophisticated/boho/hip or whatever outfit your mood dictates.
Satchels are like rucksacks: they are pretty, they are bang on trend and they let your hands free. Any of these beauties will enliven your daily mama uniform:
